My Approach
My therapeutic approach is empathy-forward. I lead with my heart to cultivate trusting, individualized relationships with my clients and their families. When there is trust, we feel safe. When we feel safe, skills are able to be learned and built upon. Once the skills are put into practice, the true growth begins.
Many of my clients have developed the belief that they’ll always struggle. My work is to remind them that while there will always be challenges in life, we can be equipped to handle them. When learners accept themselves as in the process, they open up more possibilities of succeeding, because they quit fighting themselves along the way.
In sessions I lead my clients to:
Feel safe to make mistakes
Feel proud of their successes
Build compassion and understanding for themselves as learners and individuals
Increase attention and sustained focus on tasks
Tackle big projects by learning to create small action steps
Advocate for themselves
Organize their time, schoolwork, and extracurriculars
